Parental Support and learning integration

Regardless of age, there is a level of confidentiality  required within any therapeutic sessions.  However, when we are working with high-need emotional support and regulation, rehabilitation and normalisation - there is need for parent integrations - particularly with CYP.

Bay Counselling request parent or caregivers/s of CYP 4-11 years to complete an assessment form which allows for information sharing prior to initial sessions beginning. This may be done online via video or a face to face meeting.  The meeting will last  around 40 minutes. Assessments look at risk and safety and offer space to discuss concerns by a parent or caregiver regarding the CYP.

As part of contracting with CYP, it will be noted that any concerns for the CYP's health and/or safety will be discussed with parent, if safe to do so, in addition to any Authorities if necessary. Please see our safeguarding policy for more information on how concerns are managed and referred.

By consenting to sessions for CYP, parent/caregivers automatically consent to information sharing with any necessary third parties if need arises.

In addition, Bay Counselling offer support for parents who are looking for strategies when living with difficult CYP. Tools for managing emotions, anxieties, behavioural difficulties - for example. Visits and additional sessions with CYP involved may be necessary, but this is discussed on a case by case basis.
